Once upon a time: I was a senior riding instructor at the NSW Police Force Motorcycle Training School. I realised that the public would benefit more from formal motorcycle training in road skills and safety and so, Stay Upright was born.
Best thing about working at SU? I enjoy watching the business grow under the helm of an excellent team of professionals – from the senior management team to the amazing team of experienced trainers, all of whom continue to realise our vision to have a significant impact on road safety.
What do you do now? These days, I enjoy working on my collection of vintage motorcycles, whilst offering our Stay Upright family support and direction, when it’s needed.

Current bike: KTM 1290 Super Duke
Dream ride: Anywhere out of the city with a group of other riders!
Once upon a time: I was a corporate lawyer working for a multinational.
What do you do now? Not exactly the most obvious career trajectory, but managing Stay Upright is the most satisfying role I’ve ever had – I work with incredibly passionate and talented people, helping thousands of customers fulfil their two wheel dream, and what we do makes a real difference to their safety.
Best thing about working at SU? Days on the track, when I come into pit lane grinning my head off, only to have my riding critiqued 6 ways from Sunday, by all who were watching.
Best thing about your job? The loyal, eclectic mix of people who I work with, who encourage and challenge me every day to strive higher.

Current bike: I’m between bikes so I often jump on the MT07 we have at the office for a ride.
Dream ride: I’m planning to sample more bikes to work out which is best for me.
Once upon a time: I was a Senior Executive Assistant for a large mining accommodation company, supporting the Managing Director and Senior Executive team. It was a varied role in which I was involved in many projects and improvement initiatives.
What do you do now? A bit of everything - onboarding new employees, managing HR and payroll and managing our finances. I also manage the systems we use for keeping the business humming. I’m always looking for opportunities to improve and automate to make our staff and customer experiences seamless and enjoyable.
Best thing about working at SU? The culture. The company and everyone who works here, is very supportive – it’s like working with family. Everyone helps out and is focused on educating our customers on riding their bikes safely.
Best thing about your job?I get to work with almost everyone in the company. It keeps me busy and I am constantly learning new things.

Dream ride: I have many dream rides, some of which include: The Trans European Trail, Trans American Trail, The three passes of Switzerland, Alaska to Patagonia, Cape York... the list goes on.
Once upon a time: I worked at the Scotch Whisky Heritage Centre in Edinburgh, Scotland.
What do you do now?I manage Stay Upright's operations Nationally.
Best thing about working at SU? Working with an amazingly dedicated team of industry professionals.
Best thing about your job? Getting to work around motorcycles every day!

Once upon a time: I worked in the automotive field in a variety of roles. I spent 27 years at Repco, where I imported, serviced and sold garage equipment.
What do you do now? I’m involved in both recruitment and staff training. I work with our great team of instructors to ensure they can continue to raise the bar across the industry.
Best thing about working at SU? Learning new things and seeing the company develop into a really powerful presence in rider training.
Best thing about your job? Working side-by-side with a motivated and dedicated team in both management and on the ranges. Stay Upright really is an enjoyable place to work.

Current bike: Harley Davidson Fat Boy 2010 and all of my other off-road bikes that are too many to list…
Dream bike: I just don’t have one! At the moment my YZF450F, my CR250 Elsinore… and a whole lot more.
Once upon a time: I raced bikes for a variety of professional teams. Although I raced around the world, my favourite track was always Bathurst – any time I raced there was a thrill.
What do you do now? I run the NSW Roadsmart and Tracksmart events and train our instructors to do likewise in the other states. I also mentor our national team of instructors and oversee the management of training centres across Australia.
Best thing about working at SU? I feel like I’m part of one big family.
Best thing about your job? Helping instructors be the best they can be and working with customers to share knowledge and experience.

Current bike: Kawasaki ZR900 and a Beta 250rr
Dream ride: BMW S 1000 R
Once upon a time: I was in the Army, after which I worked for a number of other training companies in Sydney.
What do you do now? I head up the ACT/NSW South operations. I also manage Stay Upright’s Workplace training courses and RTO accreditation.
Best thing about working at SU? Here in Canberra, we have a great team that all share the Stay Upright passion for training excellence, and I am proud to head that up. I’m also proud of being a part of the company that has set the benchmark in rider training across Australia and continues to lead the way.
Best thing about your job? I love the variety – one day I am on the track, teaching advanced training, the next, I am in the office. I also love the way we have been able to adapt to challenges, whilst being able to continue to offer training to a high standard.

Current bike: I have many bikes. I ride a Z1000 for my everyday commute and enjoy riding a DRZ400SM and WR450 for trail riding, enduro riding and Supermoto. I also have a few track bikes and bikes that I use for stunt riding.
Dream ride: Any bike, as long as I have a motorbike. I would also like to travel the most dangerous roads in the world such as the famous ice roads of Alaska and the high Himalayan mountains.
Once upon a time: I was lucky enough to be paid to travel the world teaching motorbikes, cars and trucks.
What do you do now: I'm even more lucky and now get to focus on my love and passion of just riding motorbikes and imparting a little bit of my knowledge and experience onto others.
Best thing about working at SU? Hanging with a bunch of absolute legends. The family vibe, and learning as much as possible. The continuous offer of support and training, the business craft, customer services, and motorbikes obviously.
Best thing about your job? Creating excited energy about motorbikes and seeing that energy transfer through to customers. It's the best feeling when a customer shares that excitement and sends a photo of their first motorbike.

Once upon a time: I was a Baker/Pastry Chef, baking all sorts of delicious breads and pastries. I sometimes still dabble with bread making in my spare time.
What do you do now? I am now working as the National National Rostering & Recruitment Manager, working alongside the Operations Managers to ensure we have courses in the system to meet our customers’ needs. As an Instructor, I also get to help out on our Roadsmart and Tracksmart courses.
Best thing about working at SU? We get to ride bikes as a job! What more could you ask for?
Best thing about your job? The people I work with and the satisfaction I get at the end of each day. We have an amazingly supportive team, who are always a pleasure to work with.

Dream Ride Anything, I can't narrow it down to just one, If it is a motorbike I will enjoy riding it.
Once upon a time: I worked in hospitality, I have a trade back ground in commercial cookery, pastry and baking, I spent the last few years working as a trainer for most of the RTO's in Victoria.
What do you do now?I'm current the Victorian Assistant Operation Manager, But I spent 14 years as a motorcycle instructor.

Current bike: Yamaha XJR1300
Dream Ride My dream ride (I have a few) would have been racing the Factory BMW R1100S Boxer Cup bike at Spa Francorchamps in Belgium for the BMW team in a round of the Boxer Cup series. More for the race track itself than the bike.
If its just about the bike, I'd pick the Factory Honda RC30 Superbike. I had the chance to race that bike here in Sydney.
Once upon a time:I have spent many years in the motorcycle industry, covering roles from wholesale to retail ownership. For the past 30 years, I've been associated with Stay Upright, both continuously and intermittently. Initially, I traveled across the country conducting Track-based Schools in the 1990s and early 2000s, and then I took on the role of General Manager in 2013.
What do you do now? Now I'm back again, doing the role of NSW Metro Operations manager.
Best thing about working at SU? It's different every day, the people are amazingly loyal, supportive and committed to the business, which has always been the case.

Once upon a time: I originally come from a design background as a graphic designer and multimedia artist for various industries and clients. I've worked as a digital marketing specialist and marketing manager in telecommunications for the last ten years.
What do you do now? As the Marketing Manager at Stay Upright, my role is multifaceted, centering around enhancing our brand visibility and driving customer engagement. I develop and implement marketing strategies, manage our digital presence including social media and website content, and ensure that our brand message is consistent and impactful. - i also have to update the staff profile you're reading right now 🙂
Best thing about working at SU? The sense of community among motorcycle enthusiasts is strong. Being part of a team that fosters this community is even better, Everyone who works here is passionate about Motorcycles and the shared interest makes it a fun and vibrant place to work.

Once upon a time: I was an Automotive Spray Painter
What do you do now? I am the NSW Instructor Development Manager (Regional) and Centre Manager at Queanbeyan, as part of these
roles I also deliver training for Licensing (NSW & ACT), Adventure Bike, Advanced Road Riding, Workplace Training (SBS, Quads & Two Wheel)
and deliver the training to onboard new Instructors, I also bring my certification as an automotive mechanic to repair and maintain our fleet of
bikes in Queanbeyan and Regional Centres.
Best thing about working at SU? Helping students become safer riders and promoting safe lifetime riding habits, everyone enjoys what they do
and this encourages and inspires every individual everyday to step up and help the team when it is needed, there is also a true sense of camaraderie throughout SU that can be seen every day
